CPM’s Role in Padmaja’s BJP Entry: Ex-IPS Officer as Mediator

Allegations by V.D. Satheesan Reveal Political Maneuvering and Influential Mediation

New Delhi: The opposition leader, V.D. Satheesan’s allegations point to CPM leadership influencing Padmaja Venugopal’s decision to join the BJP. He stated that a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, who has a close relationship with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, made Padmaja’s admission into the BJP possible.

“This retired IPS officer holds an important position in Kerala even after his retirement,” Satheesan stated. “He acted as an intermediary for Padmaja’s entry into the BJP.”

Satheesan asserted that CPM leaders delighted in Padmaja’s move to the BJP, seeing it as a calculated attempt to weaken the Congress party. However, he warned the Chief Minister that they needed to be corrected in their approach. “They want to tell the Chief Minister that they are wrong,” he said. “I will answer this in the coming days.”

Satheesan’s Assertive Statements

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Satheesan declared that the people of Kerala would come to know. He stated who is truly fighting against the Sangh Parivar and who has made peace with the organization. The accusations echoed Satheesan’s earlier stance when he met with the media late last night. At the time, he had already voiced his opposition to the CPM regarding Padmaja’s entry into the BJP.

When reporters asked if he was referring to former Director General of Police Loknath Behra, Satheesan’s response was ambiguous. He encouraged them to find out for themselves.

Announcement of Congress Candidates

Simultaneously, Satheesan announced that the list of Congress candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections would be revealed today. He assured that the candidates decided upon were still the same during the Central Election Committee meeting. “The opposition leader said that more would be said after the official announcement,” he added.

V.D. Satheesan’s allegations have given the state’s continuing power dynamics a new angle as Kerala’s political scene continues to change. The participation of a retired IPS officer who is purportedly close to the chief minister has prompted questions and more discussion in the political community.
