Analyzing the Impact of BJP's Strategic Moves and High-Profile Additions on Kerala's Political Landscape

Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to return to Kerala for two visits within a span of three days. His visits are scheduled for next Friday and Sunday. The BJP leadership has decided to capitalize on Modi’s tour of southern states, including Tamil Nadu, as an opportunity to energize its workers.

BJP’s Kerala Focus: Key Constituencies and Strategy

On Friday, the Prime Minister will visit Palakkad, followed by a trip to the Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts on Sunday. Ahead of these visits, K Surendran, the state president of the BJP, revealed that more prominent leaders will be joining the party’s ranks. Leaders from both the Congress and the Left have already made the switch to the BJP.

The trend of joining the BJP gained momentum ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, it was not significantly reflected in the poll results. In the upcoming elections, the BJP is focusing its efforts on five constituencies: Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, and Palakkad. Narendra Modi’s visit aims to bolster the party’s campaign in these crucial constituencies.

BJP’s Growing Influence: Notable Figures Joining

In recent times, the BJP has welcomed several notable figures into its fold. In the film industry, personalities like Devan, Major Ravi, and G Suresh Kumar have joined the party. Additionally, Janapasha leader PC George and his son Shaun George have also embraced the BJP’s ideology. Congress leaders C Raghunath and Padmaja Venugopal have also made the switch, with Padmaja Venugopal’s entry into the BJP garnering significant attention.

Focus on Expanding Base: More Leaders Expected to Join

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a similar trend of leaders from other parties joining the BJP was observed. Prominent names such as E Sreedharan, Senkumar, and Jacob Thomas had also joined the party’s ranks at the time. Meanwhile, K Surendran, the state president, informed the media today that even more prominent Congress leaders will be joining the BJP.

According to Surendran, these Congress leaders will formally join the BJP in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. He further stated that individuals from other parties will also be embracing the BJP’s ideology in the coming days. Surendran reiterated that Kerala would be one of the first states to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Addressing the issue of the concentration camp built by the government in Kollam district, Surendran clarified that he was referring to the detention center. He stated that everything implemented by the center would also be implemented in Kerala, citing the example of the state initially opposing but later implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
