Arrest Made in Nomadic Child Abduction Case

Police Apprehend Suspect; Baby Found Safe Near Railway Station Drain

Thiruvananthapuram: A breakthrough occurred in the case of a two-year-old girl who was abducted while sleeping with her nomadic family in Chaka. Police arrested the accused kidnapper from Kollam this morning. Twenty hours after the abduction, the baby was found in a Kochuveli railway station drain without food or water access. Investigators sought answers on who took the child. Police finally reached the accused after two weeks.

The baby vanished around midnight on February 18th. Later, her six-year-old brother said two men on a scooter took her away. The rural Telangana couple slept with their four children in an empty field on Chaka-All Saints Road, between the railway and the road, covered with a mosquito net.

Search and Recovery

After the parents found their daughter missing around 2 a.m. Monday, the father went to the Petta police station and initiated the search. The nomadic family came to Kerrela for honey collection and trade. After 20 hours, around 8 p.m., the baby was found near the Kochuveli railway station area. She was in a non-flowing stream near the track, in an uninhabited area. Locals said that despite checks after the disappearance, she suddenly appeared where police and locals had searched before.

The baby was found during a police area search. However, neighbors said they saw police running with the child, having heard cries in the forest.

Abductors gave the baby no food or water for 19 hours, as hospital staff learned. She is healthy now, with no signs of physical injury. With the child’s return, the main lingering question is why the abduction occurred. Police early on concluded the beggar mafia kidnapped her, also considering baby rearing or selling possibilities.

Arrest and Speculation

Commissioner CH Nagaraju stated that the baby could not have walked away alone; someone had stranded her in the uninhabited location. Police sketched after talking to relatives and arrested the accused after various probes. Hassan, who was released from jail just two days before for a POCSO case, is the suspect.

After two weeks, authorities have solved the kidnapping of a 2-year-old girl from her sleeping bed. Police arrested the accused kidnapper, reaching him in Kollam. One day after being taken, the baby was found abandoned near the railway station, hungry and dirty.

It was mysterious why someone stole a poor nomadic worker’s child. Police suspected the involvement of a beggar mafia or baby-selling scheme. Despite the safe return, many unanswered questions lingered. Who was the accused kidnapper, and what was his motive?

The police worked hard to uncover clues and make an arrest. More details are expected at the press conference. But the main thing is that the little girl is back home safely. While traumatic, thankfully, this story has a happy ending. The family can continue their lives, and the police can keep working to protect children from danger.
