Is it a sign of the INDIA bloc rift or a birthday celebration? SP office displays ‘future PM Akhilesh’ hoarding

Samajwadi Party's Display Sparks Speculation Amidst INDIA Bloc Discord and Unity Questions

The hoarding appeared as SP and Congress disagreed on seat-sharing for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls.

A hoarding outside the Samajwadi Party’s Lucknow office announced Akhilesh Yadav, the party chief, as the ‘future Prime Minister’ of India. This raised questions about the relations between the Congress and SP, the two prominent members of the opposition INDIA bloc. The poster was put up by Fakhrul Hasan ‘Chaand,’ a party spokesperson.

BJP leader and minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, Danish Azad Ansari, mocked the poster. He said that anyone can have dreams, but they should be realistic.

He quoted a saying, ‘Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne.’ He said that nobody can stop anyone from daydreaming. However, he added that one should dream as per one’s capability. He praised PM Modi’s leadership and said that our country is progressing under his guidance. He claimed that the people of the land trust PM Modi, and they will elect him as the PM for the third time.

SP is a part of the INDIA bloc, a coalition of 28 political parties that was formed this year to challenge the Narendra Modi-led BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Nevertheless, the alliance has yet to declare who will be its prime ministerial candidate.

Last week, there was a verbal clash between the Congress and SP over their failure to agree on seat-sharing for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls. On Saturday, Yadav said that Congress should not “betray” SP and should clarify if they want an alliance or not.

Fakhrul Hasan ‘Chaand’ explained the reason behind putting up such a poster outside the party office. He said that Akhilesh Yadav’s birthday is on July 1. Still, SP workers celebrate his birthday many times to show their love and respect for their leader.

He also said that today, some party leaders and workers are celebrating his birthday. He revealed that party workers are praying that Akhilesh Yadav becomes the PM of the country and serves the people.

He hinted that he got a message from someone through the senior-most leader of the Congress party. He said that he would have to follow what he said. He did not reveal any name or details. He asked: why did they call us if they did not want an alliance?
