Actress Gautami’s Emotional Exit from BJP Amid Betrayal Allegations

Gautami's Resignation Reveals Personal Crisis and Accusations of Party Leaders' Betrayal

New Delhi/Chennai: Gautami Tadimalla, a famous actor and politician, announced her resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, October 23, 2023. She said that she was quitting the party with a “heavy heart and deep disillusionment” as she did not receive any support from the party and its leaders in her crisis. She also accused some senior BJP members of helping and supporting a person who cheated her of her money, property, and documents.

In a letter posted on X – formerly known as Twitter – Ms Tadimalla said that she had joined the BJP 25 years ago to contribute to nation-building. She said that she had honored that commitment despite facing many challenges in her life. However, she said that she was now at an “unimaginable crisis point” in her life and found out that several BJP leaders were “actively helping and supporting” C Alagappan, who allegedly betrayed her trust and defrauded her of her life savings.

Ms. Tadimalla said that Mr Alagappan had approached her around 20 years ago when she was vulnerable and isolated. She said that she was an orphan who had lost both her parents and a single mother with an infant child. Gautami said that Mr. Alagappan pretended to be an older person and insinuated himself and his family into her life. She said that she entrusted him with the sale and documents of several of her lands but recently discovered that he had defrauded her of the same.

Ms. Tadimalla said that she had followed the laws, rules, and processes of the country to recover her hard-earned money, properties, and documents. She said that she had filed a series of complaints with complete trust in her Chief Minister, her police department, and her judicial system. However, she said that the process had been “inexplicably dragging on.”

Ms Tadimalla also said that she had been entrusted with the development of the Rajapalayam constituency for the BJP and assured the seat to contest in the 2021 TN Assembly Elections. She said that she dedicated herself to the people of Rajapalayam and the strengthening of the BJP at the grassroots level. However, her assurance was rescinded at the last minute. She said that she maintained her commitment to the party, but it was shattering to realize that there was a complete lack of support from the party. She also said that several senior members of the BJP had been enabling Mr. Alagappan to dodge justice and abscond for the last 40 days, even after the FIRs had been filed.

Ms Tadimalla said that she wrote this letter of resignation in great pain and sorrow but with unyielding resolve. She said that she was fighting for justice for herself and her child’s future as a lone woman and a single parent.

She tagged BJP President J P Nadda and the Tamil Nadu party unit chief K Annamalai, among others, in the post and ended it with “Jai Hind.”

Ms Tadimalla is a well-known actor who has worked in cinema, television, radio, and digital media for 37 years. She has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. She has also been involved in social work and advocacy for various causes.

Her resignation from the BJP has created a buzz on social media and among political circles. Some people have expressed their support and sympathy for her, while others have questioned her allegations against the party.

This is not the first time that Ms Tadimalla has quit a political party. In 2016, she resigned from Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), a party founded by actor Kamal Haasan, who was also her partner at that time. She had cited personal reasons for leaving MNM.
