Kuwait City: The Residency Affairs department witnessed an influx of expatriates seeking to apply for visiting visas. The announcement made by the ministry about the resumption of the issuance of these visas comes under new conditions. These conditions are based on instructions from Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef.

Conditions for Visa Application

  1. The applicant’s monthly salary should be at least KD 400 to apply for visas for parents, wives, and children. And it should not be less than KD 800 for other relatives.
  2. Applicants must adhere to the specified duration of the visit.
  3. Round-trip flight tickets must be booked on national airlines.
  4. Authorities will not accept requests to convert visit visas into residence permits.

Crowded Residency Affairs Departments

On Wednesday morning, Al-Seyassah toured several Residency Affairs departments. The number of applicants in the Jahra Governorate was less compared to the Farwaniya and Hawally governorates. However, the Hawally Residence Affairs Department witnessed large numbers of expatriates queuing up. Some of them arrived without a prior appointment and were subsequently sent back.

The “Mata” app receives approximately 150 visitors daily at each department. Farwaniya Governorate witnessed many expatriates, but those who did not have a prior appointment were sent back. They were asked to visit the Mata application. The process for applying through the application requires printing the form, attaching the required papers and documents, and then submitting them to the department.

Transaction Numbers and Appointment Requirements

According to security sources, the Residency Affairs department received an estimated 900 transactions yesterday morning in all the Residence Affairs departments. Authorities will extract and review the applicant’s data to verify compliance with the set conditions. They stressed needing an appointment via the Mata app to carry out the transaction. This measure aims to organise expatriates’ reception and avoid crowding easily. Additionally, providing a round-trip flight ticket within a month and all the required documents to apply is necessary.

Family and Tourist Visit Visa Details

Authorities revealed that a family visit visa is valid for one month. In contrast, a tourist visit visa is valid for three months. Furthermore, applicants must submit all applications through the Ministry of Interior website. It’s important to note that the Ministry of Interior had previously announced the conditions required for applying for visit visas in a press statement.

  1. The applicant’s salary must meet certain criteria to bring in first-degree relatives (such as wives, children, and parents). The salary must not be less than KD 400. However, to apply for a visit visa for other relatives, the salary must be at least KD 800.
  2. Completing the application process necessitates providing a round-trip flight ticket from the national airline. Additionally, applicants must submit a written pledge to refrain from requesting the conversion of their visit visa to a residence permit in the country.
  3. Visitors must adhere to the duration of the visit visa.
  4. Medical treatment for visitors will be provided in hospitals and private health centres. Still, they will not receive medical treatment in government hospitals if they violate the period of stay. In such cases, the Directorate General of Residency Affairs Investigations will include visitors and sponsors in the security control system. The Directorate General of Residency Affairs Investigations will follow up on any violators. Authorities will enforce legal procedures against violators of the foreigners’ residency law.
  5. Kuwaiti companies and institutions may submit a request for a commercial entry visa. Authorities grant this visa to individuals with university or technical qualifications, aligning its issuance with the company’s activity and work nature.
  6. Individuals from 53 countries are eligible for tourist visas. Individuals can obtain these visas either directly at the port of entry upon arrival in the country or by applying for an electronic visa through the Ministry of Interior’s website at Additionally, residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are eligible for tourist visas.
  7. Individuals with professions specified in Ministerial Resolution No. 2030/2008 and its amendments will receive tourist visas. This process adheres to the controls and requirements outlined in the aforementioned ministerial resolution. Hotels and companies equipped with an automated interface with the Directorate General of Residence Affairs system facilitate the issuance of visas.
